Civil engineers are rightfully proud of their
legacy. During the past century, clean water
supplies have extended general life
expectancies. Transportation systems serve as an
economic and social engine. New bridges,
blending strength and beauty, speed transport
and bring communities closer together. Public
and private construction, for which engineers
provide the essential underpinnings of design
and project oversight, produces hundreds of
thousands of jobs and drives community
development. From the functional and beautiful
Golden Gate Bridge in the United States,
Petronas Towers in Malaysia, and Pont du Gard in
France to the largely hidden water supply and
sanitary sewer systems in India, civil engineers
have made their mark in many aspects of the
daily life of essentially everyone around the
globe.
Water Resources Department of Government of
Maharashtra played very crucial role in
developing the water resources projects and
thereby development of rural as well as urban
area. Since inception, department engaged in
surveying, designing, constructing and managing
the water resources projects, to optimally
utilize the scare and limited commodity. The
development of agriculture as well as industries
and assured supply of water for domestic use was
achieved by the department. The mega projects
like, Koyana, Jayakwadi witness the success and
dedication of engineers and vision of
Government.
To meet diversified challenges, department needs
visionary engineers along with administrator to
cope up future
challenges. The demand for water
is growing day by day in each sector of
utilization, while availability is limited.
Government of Maharashtra conducts Engineering
Service Examination, through Maharashtra

competent engineers to take up the challenges.
